DESIRE RESORT & SPA - Trip Reviews
Tom & Helen - Desire Resort & Spa Trip Report March 2005

Overall - This was our 1st trip to Desire Resort & Spa and we would describe it as relaxing, luxurious, romantic, sexy, fun, and easy to make new friends! Desire is a sublime hideaway set on an exquisite white sandy beach near Puerto Morelos and is the singular adult resort that allows its guests to achieve a sense of freedom unlike any other in Mexico. We were free and uninhibited to soak up the sun, liberate our libido, and indulge ourselves like never before. Desire encouraged us to be whoever we are--or wanted to be! Overall, it is a GREAT value for the money. Desire is a good place to go by ourselves or with a group.... The liberal atmosphere specifically caters to hedonistic m/f couples. It provides a picture-perfect setting for an extraordinary clothing-optional lifestyle couples getaway.
Rooms - The resort arranged as a village has 110 rooms and suites with views overlooking the lush tropical gardens or spectacular ocean views. All rooms are located conveniently to the pools and restaurants. We did like the fact that all rooms have a small refrigerator which the staff fills with soda, beer, and bottled water every day. Our king-size bed with mirrored headboard and a new "couples" shower was wonderful. Having a CD player and cable tv with adult channels added to our enjoyment. The room maid service was excellent!
Activities & Entertainment - We truly enjoyed the daytime and themed evening programs. We traveled with a group and the Public Relations Director and the Activities Coordinator catered to our request for "special" events including a group meet-n-greet, sand/water volleyball challenges, Jacuzzi cocktail parties, and so much more! The pool area is located near the beach but is missing a swim-up bar, which would be nice. However, the wait staff service rarely let your glass get empty! The Jacuzzi is located on the roof-top level in the "Jacuzzi lounge". It was very clean and has a swim-up bar. Nearby in the lounge, there are canopy beds with clean sheets etc, so it made for a nice outdoor play area. No need to go to the room to play, especially if you enjoy the outdoors or being an exhibitionist! Of course there was the spa that offered many services including body treatments, massages, facial treatments, and waxing! It was amazing how fast the days went!
Disco - The disco itself is big, has a nice lounge area in the back, a bit away from the loud music where you can talk, play etc. There are 3 poles for people who like to pole-dance. There is also so-called "red room" - playroom in the back of the bar with nice couches, fresh towels etc. The only complaint about the disco is that it closes at 2am compared to other lifestyle resorts. The music they played varied, there was some reggae, a lot of Latino music, and popular top-40.
Restaurants - The food, drink, and service was excellent! We ate at all four (4) restaurants including: El Arrecife: The main restaurant serving breakfast, lunch & dinner buffet-style. Dress was casual and reservations were not required. IL Piacere Restaurant: A beautiful restaurant serving fine international cuisine a la carte. Reservations were required and easily made. Upon resort check-in, we were issued dinner tickets, 3 for the 9 days that we were at the resort. Cielito Lindo: A small outdoor Mexican bistro near the main restaurant which featured tasty regional specialties. which we enjoyed lunch there many days! Lastly was the Coconut Grill: A snack bar located by the main pool area serving a variety of grilled specialties for lunch only. At any given time you can eat somewhere in resort, including room service, and late night pizza and sandwiches at the Melange Lobby Bar.
Bars - The Coconut Bar adjacent the nude pool provided convenient poolside service. We enjoyed friendly service for early morning bloody mary's and cocktails after the disco closed at the Melange Lobby Bar, an open-air bar located by main pool area. The L'Alternative Disco Lounge Bar where we danced the night away and enjoyed making new friends was inconsistent in liquor selection. Our favorite was the Nude Jacuzzi Lounge Bar where we had the most fun from 4:00pm-7:00pm each night!
Service - We were greeted in the lobby at check-in with a fluted glass of champagne. >From there the service was outstanding throughout our stay till check-out. They definitely work really hard so tipping, although optional, was done with pleasure! The waiters, bartenders, entertainment staff, and maid service was excellent and in the right spirit to be working at a swing resort! We are looking forward to a return trip!
