| Thailand First Timers :-) |
We are hoping for some advice on how to best spend 17 days in Thailand; Tao, Koh Samui and Bangkok.
We arrive on a friday 21st Oct to Samui and will fly back home on 6th Nov. Last 4 days in Bangkok.
Obviously we plan to scuba dive in Koh Tao, weather permitting.
We should have min a week in Samui. Looking to mix relaxing with some water sports, night fun and some cultural/nature attractions...
It doesn't look like anyone will be spending their hold at the same time as us in Samui:-(
Just looking for any possible advice to have a great time in Samui and Bangkok.

Hi,
I am sure you will have a blast. Although the weather is unpredictable and rain has been massive (BKK is now receiving the flooding of the north) you should be fine. Diving is great, but find a reputable (Padi 5*) dive shop to take you out. Read up on the dives and tell them what you like and what not. The service in TH is excellent and everything is easy - maybe sometimes a tourist trap but nothing that a few $$ and a smile would resolve. There should be plenty of blogs on night life there.
As for BKK, most night life is either "normal" or sex oriented. Normal but fun bars are "Spasso" in the Erawan grand Hyatt with a great band starting around 10 pm. Also the famous Q-Bar and Bed supper club start around 11PM are worth it. Note, the city entertainment sleeps early!
If you are looking for the sex stuff, im principle stay away from Pat Pong which is a ripp off for newbie tourist. instead go to Soi Cowboi and enjoy the glass floor of Baccarat, or the shows as Suzie Wong... All fun, safe and friendly (short of pushy taxi and tuk tuk drivers). or go to Soi 33 and have a couples massage - just google a few places and book in advance (not all girls are bi).
If you want to experience a famous Fetish bar try the Cave on Soi 33 - you pay a "hefty 1,000 bt entry" but a drink with a great show. find yourself tied up and teased by 5 leather clad mistresses is a safe and fun experience.. Buy a few rounds of drinks (around 250 bt per drink) and you will have good fun.
We live in TH since 10+ years and dont mind going out to Q Bar or Spasso with you guys. let us know... Give us a mail.. We have been showing the BKK by night to our friends (and even parents!) for yours.
